Melissa Cisneros grew up in the Midwest in the 60s and 70s, and she always had a menagerie of animals around – from horses to the tiniest of rodents, and everything in between – including many cats and kittens. Back then, there was never an emphasis placed on the process or benefits of spaying or neutering pets. Melissa was always fortunate to find good homes for the many kittens and cats that she fostered, but she wanted to help solve overpopulation, so as an adult, she has made it her personal quest to do what she could to remedy this situation. 

Maico’s Kitten Rescue was named after the mother cat from Melissa’s childhood, Maico, to honor her memory, and the mission is to rescue, foster and properly sterilize animals that are out there, while finding and then placing them into loving forever homes.
